My wife was ready for some new cotton knit shorts to wear to bed and around the house in the summertime. When she spotted these, she fell in love! She’s a dog lover, so this pair with the multicolored outlines of bull dogs, Boston terriers, etc. looked like just the ticket.
The shorts are definitely 100% with all the softness, comfort and breathability she loves. They fit exactly as expected and were a nice length—not so long that they were hot and not so short that they were immodest. She can wear lime, gray, navy or light blue T-shirts to match the print.
The shorts are fairly well-made. Even though the hem was only folded over once with raw edges exposed, they did not unravel in the wash. The seams are finished with a tight serge stitch. And all of the stitches are even.
The cotton is light enough to be cool in summer, but thick enough that you can’t see your underwear (unless it’s really dark) underneath. You probably shouldn’t wear these to the store or outside, but they’re okay for wearing around the house or for teens to wear at a sleep-over or camp.
About the only thing we’d have liked to be done differently was the waist band. The elastic seems a bit looser than it ought to be. And the drawstrings are made of a very lightweight cotton twill tape, which tends to want to work its way into the casing during the wash. It would be better if it was a sturdy cotton cord or something made out of the same fabric as the shorts.
All in all, though, these shorts are a fun choice for sleepwear. My wife loved all of the cute prints—including corgis, jungle designs, aquatic prints and all sorts of other critters. They give you lots of color options, too.
At almost $15-20 at the time of this review, I do think they are overpriced. If they were part of a set, that might be reasonable. But for a single pair of an obscure brand of shorts, I think something in the neighborhood of $10 would be more appropriate.
